SUBJECT: RECOGNITION OF REVENUE FROM THE RUN SEAL
BEACH COMMITTEE
SUMMARY OF REQUEST:
That the City Council adopt Resolution No. 6521, accepting a grant of $9,000
from the Run Seal Beach Committee and approving Budget Amendment No. 15-
06-02 to allocate the grant funds to the Community Services Department.
BACKGROUND AND ANALYSIS:
The Run Seal Beach Committee is a non-profit organization that raises funds and
awareness for recreation programs, services, and facilities in the greater Seal
Beach community. Each year, the Committee coordinates the Run Seal Beach
5K/10K, which is a high quality event that is a source of pride for the Seal Beach
community.
At the June 23, 2014 City Council meeting, the Run Seal Beach Committee
announced the recipients of its 2014 grants. All donations are awarded through
an application process and reviewed by the Committee before being allocated to
non-profit or charitable community organizations that provide recreation
programs, services, and facilities. Attached to this staff report (as Attachment A)
is a list of grants awarded in 2014 for a total of $168,420 to 78 community
organizations.
The Community Services Department was selected by the Committee to receive
a grant of$9,000 to fund the following projects:
• Real snow at the annual holiday tree lighting
• New beach volleyball courts
The purpose of this agenda item is to request that the City Council accept this
grant and amend the City's budget to allocate the money to the Community
Services Department.

ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT:
There is no Environmental Impact related to this item.
LEGAL ANALYSIS:
The City Attorney has reviewed the proposed resolution and approved it as to
form.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
Budget Amendment No. 15-06-02 would amend the budget to allow the
Community p Services Department to complete the proposed projects. The
increased expenditures would be completely offset by the amount of the grant.
RECOMMENDATION:
That the City Council adopt Resolution No. 6521, accepting a grant of $9,000
from the Run Seal Beach Committee and approving Budget Amendment No. 15-
06-02 to allocate the grant funds to the Community Services Department.

A RESOLUTION OF THE SEAL BEACH CITY COUNCIL
ACCEPTING A GRANT OF $9,000 FROM THE RUN SEAL
BEACH COMMITTEE AND APPROVING BUDGET AMENDMENT
NO. 15-06-02 TO ALLOCATE THE GRANT FUNDS TO THE
COMMUNITY SERVICES DEPARTMENT
THE SEAL BEACH CITY COUNCIL HEREBY RESOLVES THAT:
Section 1. The City Council hereby accepts the grant of$9,000 from the Run
Seal Beach Committee to fund the Real Snow event at the annual Holiday Tree
Lighting and new beach volleyball courts.
Section 2. The City Council hereby approves Budget Amendment No. 15-
06-02 to allocate the grant funds to the Community Services Department as
follows:
