BACKGROUND AND ANALYSIS:
In 1992, the Bolsa Chica Land Trust was created as a 501(c) 3 California
nonprofit organization with the mission to protect an estimated 50 acres of
coastal nature and wetlands referred to as the Bolsa Chica wetlands. For over
22 years, the Bolsa Chica Land Trust has protected the wetlands from urban
development and has expanded its membership to 5,000 volunteers, including
residents from Seal Beach.
The City of Seal Beach recognizes the Bolsa Chica Land Trust's 22 year history
and their mission of the acquisition, preservation, and restoration of all of Bolsa
Chica and the education of the public to its natural wonders and cultural
significance. The work of the Bolsa Chica Land Trust has contributed to the
preservation and ongoing restoration of a neighboring natural coastal resource
and their projects and programs engage and educate many of our citizens. The
quality of life of the citizenry of Seal Beach has been positively impacted by the
mission-driven efforts of the Bolsa Chica Land Trust, and the City of Seal Beach
