HomeMy WebLinkAboutRPC Min 2015-04-22 MINUTES OF A REGULAR MEETING OF THE SEAL BEACH RECREATION & PARKS COMMISSION HELD APRIL 22, 2015 I. CALL TO ORDER The regular meeting of the Seal Beach Recreation & Parks Commission was called to order at 6:03 p.m. by Chair Sustarsic in the City Council Chambers, 211 8th Street, Seal Beach. II. ROLL CALL Present: Chair Sosenko Commissioners Bennett, Hayes, Bittner and Sustarsic Also present: Tim Kelsey, Recreation Manager III. APPROVAL OF AGENDA Commissioner Bennett moved, Commissioner Sustarsic seconded, and the motion carried unanimously, that the Commission approve the agenda as submitted. IV. ORAL COMMUNICATIONS Chair Sosenko opened Oral Communications. Seeing nobody oral communication was closed. V. CONSENT CALENDAR Commissioner Sustarsic moved, Commissioner Bennett seconded, and the motion carried unanimously, that the Commission approve the Consent Calendar as amended to reflect changes in the minutes. 1. Meeting Minutes of February 25, 2015. VI. SCHEDULED MATTERS 2. Aquatics Feasibility Study Update Tim Kelsey shared an update on the aquatics feasibility study and the current status of the community outreach. Mr. Kelsey reported that the community outreach was ongoing and that website would continue to be used to be used a tool for gathering feedback from the community. Mr. Kelsey also reported that the consulting team had attending the annual Spring Fling in College Park East, a coffee chat with the Mayor at Bogarts and been present at the Leisure World Chamber Expo. Feedback at all three events had been good and at the Spring Fling over 20 new members joined the website as contributors. Mr. Kelsey also shared that the City has had exploratory discussions with the Navy about the use of property on the base for a future pool site. The Navy has been receptive to discussing the opportunity with the City although no agreement is eminent. VII. STAFF CONCERNS Chair Sosenko opened Staff Concerns. Tim Kelsey reported the Seal Beach Car Show would be taking place on Main Street on April 25, 2015. VIII. COMMISSION CONCERNS Chair Sosenko opened Commission Concerns. Commissioner Hayes provided a list of future subjects she would like to see the commission review. Tim Kelsey reported that staff can bring these items back in the future for the commissions review. Commissioner Hayes also reported that the clock at the pool was not properly working and had been malfunctioning for some time. IX. ADJOURNMENT The meeting was adjourned at 7:04 p.m. The Commission adjourned to a meeting to be held on Wednesday, May 27, 2015 at 6:00 p.m. The City of Seal Beach complies with Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990.
