HomeMy WebLinkAbout~National Night Out - Proclamation PROCLAMATION "National Night Out" August 4, 2015 WHEREAS, National Association of Town Watch is a non-profit organization dedicated to the development and promotion of various crime prevention programs including neighborhood watch groups, law enforcement agencies, state and regional crime prevention associations, businesses, civic groups, and individuals, devoted to safer communities; WHEREAS, The national event, known as National Night Out is a designated evening when communities across America come together to take a stand against crime, drugs, and disorder in their neighborhoods, and further, The National Association of Town Watch has announced that the 32nd Annual National Night Out program will culminate on Tuesday, August 4th, 2015; WHEREAS, National Night Out involves over 37 million people in 16,000 communities from all 50 states, U.S. territories, Canadian cities, and military bases worldwide; WHEREAS, National Night Out, a yearlong community building campaign, is designed to: heighten crime prevention awareness, generate support for, and participation in, local anticrime programs, and strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships; and WHEREAS, the City of Seal Beach has partnered with the Target Corporation, the National Corporate Sponsor of National Night Out and will host a community event where the Seal Beach Police Department along with Seal Beach Marine Safety, Seal Beach Community Services & Parks, Seal Beach Naval Weapons Station, Seal Beach Chamber of Commerce, Public Works, Target and Ralph's stores will be coordinating a night of information, interaction with public safety, and fun! NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, the City of Seal Beach City Council does hereby recognize Tuesday, August 4, 2015 as ""NATIONAL NIGHT OUT" In the City of Seal Beach, and further encourage all residents to recognize the importance of preventing crime and promoting awareness, safety, and neighborhood unity. Further, National Night Out showcases the vital importance of police-community partnerships and citizen involvement in our fight for a safer nation.
