Ingram, City Manager FROM: Tina Knapp, Acting City Clerk SUBJECT: DISTRICT 1 PLANNING COMMISSION VACANCY SUMMARY OF REQUEST: That the City Council ratify the appointment of Deb Machen as the District 1 representative to the Planning Commission. BACKGROUND AND ANALYSIS: In accordance with Government Code §54974 (Maddy Act), whenever an unscheduled vacancy occurs on any board, commission, or committee for which the legislative body has the appointing power, a special vacancy notice shall be posted and appointment to the board, commission, or committee shall not be made by the legislative body for at least 10 working days after the posting of the notice. This vacancy was posted on September 11, 2015. ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT: There is no environmental impact related to this item. LEGAL ANALYSIS: The City Attorney has reviewed this item and approved as to form. FINANCIAL IMPACT: There is no financial impact related to this item. Family obligations dictate this decision. I would like to thank the members of the City Council, especially my District 1 sponsor-Mayor Ellery Deaton, for the opportunity to serve our fine city. I would also like to thank Mr.Jim Basham-the Director of Community Development, as well as all of City Staff and my fellow Commissioners for their support in helping make my experience on the Planning Commission both educational and enjoyable.
