Ingram, City Manager FROM: Jim Basham, Director of Community Development/Interim Director of Public Works SUBJECT: SENIOR TRANSPORTATION PROGRAM UPDATE SUMMARY OF REQUEST: That the City Council receive and file this report. BACKGROUND AND ANALYSIS: In the 1990's, OCTA developed a program called the Senior Mobility Program in which local agencies are provided with funding to help operate their own bus program. The intent of the program is for each municipality to monitor their own program and structure the program to meet the needs of their community. The City of Seal Beach has been successfully operating this program for the past 20 years. This program was recently re-bid and awarded on January 10, 2011. In the current 2015/2016 Budget, $242,000 is budgeted for the Senior Transportation Program. Below is a breakdown of the revenues applied to the Senior Transportation Program: Source Amount Orange County Transportation Authority $65,000 Golden Age Foundation $18,000 Community SeniorSery $8,700 Air Qualily Management (District $30,000 TOTAL $121,700 In the current 2015/2016 Budget, City Councilmembers are budgeted $20,000 in discretionary funds. Councilmembers from District 2 and 5 desire to apply $5,000 each from their respective Districts, totaling to $10,000 to be applied to the Golden Age Foundation.
