HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC Res 4931 2001-09-24 I 1 I WHEREAS, ." ./) . : <J;;~ESOLUTION NUMBER 9~1 ',. ,.~\ {.j \(\-" ' A RE~OLU1i~ON'_OF THE CITY OF SEAL BEACH, CALIFORNIA, IN SUPPO~"f., QF lJHE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA IN THE WAKE OF TER,RbRIST ACTIONS AGAINST ALL AMERICANS . . , . ......~')V .... 1."'-' 7_ Septell'ltier~ll, 2001 will be a day Americans will never forget - the day of the brutal terrorist assault on the United States of America - and the day lives changed for all freedom loving peoples' of the world; and WHEREAS, commandeering four airliners and setting a course for destruction of our nation's most symbolic buildings; the terrorists' hijacked planes struck both towers of the World Trade Center and the Pentagon building, causing massive loss of lives and property and striking fear, sorrow and anger in all Americans; and WHEREAS, the fourth airliner crashed into the Pennsylvania landscape to thwart the efforts of the hijackers and those passengers and crew will forever remain as heroes in our minds; and WHEREAS, with powerful visions of the imploding World Trade Towers seared into our collective memories, September 11'" was also a day of universal solidarity as Americans grieved at the enormity of the attack, shared i'n the sorrow for those that lost their lives and for the thousands of lives unaccounted for and were united in their outrage at the callous hatred of those that carried out this destruction; and WHEREAS, the Seal Beach community, extends our heartfelt condolences to the citizens of New York City and Washington, D.C., to the families of those that lost their lives during the attack and during the rescue operations and further conveys our pride at the heroic actions of the rescue workers, volunteers and State and local officials who responded to these tragic events with courage, determination and honor. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City 'of Seal Beach, California urges members of the public who represent every national place of origin, faith, race, creed and color to work together as a community and as Americans to support the President and Congress of the United States of 'America. in its commitment and defense of freedom and democracy.
