A CALIFORNIA CHARITABLE CORPORATION June 29, 2016 Jill R. Ingram City Manager City of Seal Beach 211 Eight Street Seal Beach, CA 90740 Dear Ms. Ingram: P.O. BOX 2369 SEAL BEACH. CALIFORNIA 90740 RECEIVED JUL 0 6 2016 City Manager's Off icc This is to confirm that the Golden Age Foundation will discontinue financial support for bus transportation contracted by the city. The effective date of discontinuance is August 1, 2016. We reached this decision after careful consideration of the availability of bus transportation together with the cost of our continuing support. The Golden Age Foundation is a non - profit charitable (501 c3) entity; 100% of our funding is from donations by individuals and groups in our community. We have significant challenges meeting our annual budget and must make decisions about expenditures that bring the most value consistent with our mission. Although Mayor Massa - Lavitt and Councilmember Sloan generously allocated some of the discretionary funds to this effort last year, what we pay still represents a large amount of our budget. We often are billed many months after service provision. To clarify, we will not provide funding for services rendered after August 1. Leisure World Transportation Manager Grant Winford will need to be informed about any changes in service so that will affect the Leisure World community. We have been in a position to help for some time; unfortunately, we are no longer able to do so. Please contact me at mlhabeli2,aol_com (562 -810 -1561) at your convenience to discuss any details.
