Home My WebLink AboutCC Res 4766 1999-11-08 RESOLUTION NUMBER~(P A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEAL BEACH IN SUPPORT OF '[HE SOUTIlERN CALIFORNIA WETLANDS RECOVERY PROJECT WHEREAS, the Southern California Wetlands Recovery Project is a partnership of public agencies working cooperatively to acquire, restore and enhance coastal wetlands I and watersheds in Los Angeles, Santa Barbara, Ventura, Orange and San Diego Counties; and WHEREAS, the City of Seal Beach is home to the Hellman wetlands and the San Gabriel River watershed, both sites of vital, ecological and hydrological importance to our city and its residents; and WHEREAS, as the repository for all that flows down the San Gabriel River, emptying into our municipal beaches and impacting our ocean water quality, the San Gabriel River watershed continues to be a significant environmental concern to Seal Beach; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Seal Beach has supported the efforts to enhance these wetlands and watersheds, is committed to improving ocean water quality and has for many years participated in shoreline restoration through sand replenishment. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Seal Beach hereby recognizes and commends the efforts of the Southern California Wetlands Recovery Project and fully supports their goals and objectives and will work cooperatively in sharing information specific to Seal Beach and beneficial to the Southern California Wetlands Recovery Proj ecl.
