A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SEAL BEACH, CALIFORNIA, CREATING
AN AD HOC WATER QUALITY COMMITIEE
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEAL BEACH HEREBY
RESOL YES:

The City was successful in securing funding within the FY 1999/2000
State budget in the amount of $450,000 to improve beach and ocean water
quality; and

the City desires to establish an Stonnwater and Urban Runoff Water Quality
Master Plan and has retained Tettemer & Associates to assist the City in
. preparing the plan; and
the City Council desires citizen participation in the fonnulation of a
Stonnwater and Urban Runoff Water Quality Master Plan so that it reflects
community values and concerns.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Seal Beach
that:

The City Council of the City of Seal Beach does hereby create an ad hoc committee
to be known as the Water Quality Committee.
The Water Quality Committee shall consist of ten (10) members appointed by the
City Council. Each member of the City Council shall appoint a member to the
committee. It is desirable that members of the Committee have particular skills,
background, and knowledge in ocean water quality issues.

The Director of Public Works or his designee will scrve as staff support to the Water
Quality Committee.
The Water Quality Committee will be working with City staff and the City's
consultants and shall bc charged with the following duties and responsibilities:
A. Provide local knowledge on water quality issues; and
B. Review and comment on infonnation and draft elements of the Stonnwater
and Urban Runoff Water Quality Master Plan.
The Watcr Quality Committee shall select from its membership a chainnan and vice-
chainnan to chair its meetings. Copies of the agenda and the minutes of each meeting
and any written reports or correspondence of the Committee shall be filed with the
City Clerk and copies provided to the City Council.
The Water Quality Committee shall serve at the will of the City Council.

Members of the Water Quality Committee shall serve without pay.
The Water Quality Committee shall be disbanded upon adoption of a final
Stonnwater and Urban Runoff Water Quality Master Plan or as directed by the City
Council.
