SUBJECT: NOTICE OF COMPLETION FOR COUNCIL CHAMBERS
REMODEL PROJECT NO. BG1401 AND SBTV -3
CONTROL ROOM UPGRADES BG1402
SUMMARY OF REQUEST:
That the City Council:
1. Adopt Resolution No. 6711 accepting the Council Chambers Remodel
Project Number BG1401 and the SBTV -3 Control Room Upgrades
BG1402 by Ramco General Engineering Contractor in the amount of
$266,353; and,
2. Direct the City Clerk to file a "Notice of Completion" with the Orange
County Clerk- Recorder within ten (10) days from the date of acceptance
and to release retention in 35 days.
BACKGROUND AND ANALYSIS:
On May 9, 2016, the City Council approved the plans and specifications for the
Council Chambers Remodel Project Number BG1401 and the SBTV -3 Control
Room Upgrades BG1402 (Project) and awarded a construction contract to
Ramco General Engineering Contractor for the Project in the amount of
$310,700.
The Project consisted of relocating SBTV -3, installing panic buttons and
bulletproof panels at the dais. The project is now complete and to the
satisfaction of the Deputy Director of Public Works /City Engineer. The Project
was inspected and it meets all standards and requirements within the Project
specifications. It is required to formally accept the Project and file a Notice of
Completion with the Orange County Clerk's Office.

ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT:
This project has complied with the California Environmental Quality Act.
LEGAL ANALYSIS:
No legal analysis is required for this item.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
In the approved FY 2013 -14 Budget, $300,000 from Project Number BG1401 of
the General Fund and $225,000 from Project Number BG1402 of the Seal Beach
Cable Foundation Funds were budgeted, totaling $525,000. Below is a summary
and breakdown of expenses for the project:

The awarded contract amount with Ramco General Engineering Contractor was
in the amount of $310,700. However, during construction, change orders
occurred. Change orders include, additional structural members for reinforcing
HVAC equipment, an additional electrical panel, seal coating the HVAC
components for sait air protection, deletion of the renovations to the restrooms
and ramp in Old City Hall for a project savings of $44,347. The final project cost
was approximately $125,000 under the project budget.
RECOMMENDATION:
That the City Council:
1. Adopt Resolution No. 6711 accepting the Council Chambers Remodel
Project Number BG1401 and the SBTV -3 Control Room Upgrades
BG1402 by Ramco General Engineering Contractor in the amount of
$266,353; and,
2. Direct the City Clerk to file a "Notice of Completion" with the Orange
County Clerk- Recorder within ten (10) days from the date of acceptance
and to release retention in 35 days.

ACCEPTING COMPLETION OF THE COUNCIL CHAMBERS
REMODEL PROJECT NO. BG1401 AND SBTV -3 CONTROL
ROOM UPGRADES BG1402 AND DIRECTING THE FILING OF A
NOTICE OF COMPLETION FOR THE PROJECT
THE SEAL BEACH CITY COUNCIL DOES HEREBY RESOLVE:
Section 1. The City accepts the completion of the Council Chambers Remodel
Project Number BG1401 and the SBTV -3 Control Room Upgrades BG1402 (the
"Project") by Ramco General Engineering Contractor in the amount of $266,353
for the work performed.
Section 2. The City Clerk is hereby directed to file a "Notice of Completion" for
the Project with the Orange County Clerk- Recorder within ten (10) days of the
date of this resolution and to release retention in 35 days.
