Very large pump Installation and removal priced at $30,000 Price per month rental at $50,000 /month Very difficult installation, large metal pipes, crane installation and —arge footprint 1/23/2017 10 1/23/2017 10 - ml I m Video 1/23/2017 12 r 1/23/2017 13 1/23/2017 14 1/23/2017 15 1/23/2017 16 Overview ► The bulk of Winter Storm Leo passed through Seal Beach between 1300-1700 hours. ► The City of Seal Beach is estimated to have received over 3" of rain over the last 12 hours and over 2" of rain in the last 6 hours. 1/23/2017 17 Events Summary ► There were four primary areas of concern as this event developed; • Injuries • Evacuations Traffic Collisions o Flooding Community Notification ► Prior to this Storm Series On January 1 7th, issued a press release, and Nixie notification, detailing anticipated impacts of the impending storm which included; The seven sandbag locations which were spread throughout the City NWS predictions of heavy rain and high surf which may cause mild to moderate flooding in Seal Beach Residents were encouraged to take the necessary steps to protect themselves and their property This message was also distributed on social media via Facebook and Twitter. J 1/23/2017 11M Community Notification r Two days prior to Sunday's storm event On January 20th, issued an updated press release and Nixle notification to include; To not swim in surf To not park your car in areas that may Flood. Some of those areas include 1 It Street between PCH and Marina or & Marina or between P' Street and 5th Street. • To not walk or drive through flooded roads. To drive courteously, defensively and at a speed appropriate for conditions. To watch out for City and Utility workers To keep your pets inside • To report flooding, downed trees or other storm related issues, call West Cities Communications This message was also distributed on social media via Facebook and Twitter. Community Notification ► Notice to Seal Beach Shores Residents On January 2151, VIPS handed out rain and flooding flyers to each residence within the Seal Beach Shores community 1/23/2017 19 Community Notification � During Sunday's storm event � 1 st AlertOC message - At 2:1 7pm an AlertOC message was sent to residents south of PCH and west of Main Street, approximately 1200 residences, in response to the amount of flooding occurring. 2nd AlertOC message - At 3:49pm an AlertOc message was sent to residents in College Park East (approximately 1 100 residences) in response to the amount of flooding having occurred. Events Summary Injuries There were NO reported injuries. Evacuations There were NO evacuations required. Traffic Collisions There were NO traffic collisions reported. 1/23/2017 20 a Events Summary ► Flooding There were three notable areas of flooding Old Town - West of Main St. / south of PCH Old Town - Seal Walk and from 101h St. to Dolphin Ave. College Park East Flooding ► Old Town - West of Main St / South of PCH Additional sandbag pallets were delivered to Seal Beach Shores during the morning hours. Seal Beach Shores had flooding on all streets between 1330 and 2000 hours We conducted nearly continuous patrols within Seal Beach Shores between 1300 and 1 700 hours speaking with residents and looking for hazards. No specific complaints were levied and no hazards were identified. 1/23/2017 21 Flooding - continued Marine Safety Officers went door to door within Seal Beach Shores checking on every resident present between 1730 and 1830 hours. There were no significant issues or damage reported. 1 it Street between PCH and Marina Drive had flooding as was closed down for several hours. PCH between Seal Beach Blvd and 1 It Street had flooding. Many portions of PCH were closed for varying periods of time as a result. Flooding - continued The 1st, 8th and 10th Street lots had portions flooded between 1300 and 2000 hours. Marina Drive between PCH and l It St had flooding. Numerous Bridgeport streets had flooding. Numerous other streets within this designated area had areas of flooding as well. 1/23/2017 22 Flooding - continued ► Old Town - Seal Walk - 101h St. to Dolphin Ave Significant flooding on Seal Walk and the adjacent beach area between 1300 and 2000 hours. Public Works responded with heavy equipment to attempt water relief by digging a trench leading towards the pier. Seal Way had portions flooded between 1430 and 1800 hours. Flooding - continued ► College Park East Ironwood had significant flooding between Heather and Candleberry. Police Officers closed the street and were later relieved by Marine Safety Officers. Guava Ave, Hazelnut Ave, Elder Ave, Dogwood Ave, Candleberry, Birchwood Ave and Aster St had significant flooding. Numerous other streets in College Park East had sporadic flooding. 1/23/2017 23 Marine Safety o Forecast for 8-12 foot surf on Sunday Jan. 22 o 4.5 -5 foot high tides over the weekend . One extra Lifeguard for surf o Once the rain event started we called in 14 extra Lifeguards - full and part time staff o Ready to assist OCFA if there was a medical aid in a flooded area. o Assisted P.D. with traffic control in CPE P Performed a door to door survey of residents in the Golden Shores trailer park. o Currently the surf is in the 10 foot range and the berm is holding firm. 1/23/2017 24
