HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC Res 4424 1995-11-13 RESOLUTION NUMBER -I~:J- A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEAL BEACH, CALIFORNIA, REQUESTING THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF THE COUNTY OF ORANGE TO CONSOLIDATE A PRIMARY MUNICIPAL ELECTION TO BE HELD ON MARCH 26th, 1996 WITH THE STATEWIDE PRIMARY ELECTION TO BE HELD ON THAT DATE PURSUANT TO SECTION 10403 OF THE CALIFORNIA ELECTIONS CODE, AND FURTHER REQUESTING SPECIFIED ~ERVtCES TO"THE CITY RELATING TO THE CONDUCT OF 'SA~D PRIMARY ELECTION TO BE HELD IN SAID CITY ON MARCH 26, 1996. . I WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Seal Beach called a Primary Municipal Election to be held on March 26th, 1996 for the purpose of the election of two members of the City Council and a City Clerk; and WHEREAS, it is desirable that the Primary Municipal Election be consolidated with the Statewide Primary Election to be held on the same date and that within the City the precincts, polling places and election officers of the two elections be the same, and that the County Election Department of the County of Orange canvass the returns of the Primary Municipal Election and that the election be held in all respects as if there were only one election. I NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEAL BEACH DOES RESOLVE, DECLARE, DETERMINE AND ORDER AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. That pursuant to the requirements of Section 10403 of the Elections COde, the Board of Supervisors of the County of Orange is hereby requested to consent and agree to the consolidation of a Primary Municipal Election with the Statewide Primary Election on Tuesday, March 26th, 1996, for the purpose of the election of two members of the City Council and a city Clerk. Section 2. That pursuant to the provisions of Section 10002 of the Elections Code of the State of California, this city Council requests the Board of Supervisors of the County to permit the county Election Department to prepare and furnish to the city for use in conducting the election the computer record of the names and addresses of all eligible registered voters in the City in order that the city may print labels to be attached to self-mailer sample ballot pamphlets; also furnish to the City I printed indices of the voters to be used by the City for said election; and make available to the City additional election equipment and assistance according to State law. Section 3. That the County Election Department is authorized to canvass the returns of the Primary Municipal Election. The election shall be held in all respects as if there were only one election, and only one form of ballot shall be used. I I I -Resolution Number "'1bl~ Section 4. That the Board of Supervisors is requested to issue instructions to the County Election Department to take any and all steps necessary for the holding of the consolidated election and to render certain specified services. Section 5. That the city of Seal Beach recognizes that additional costs will be incurred by the County by reason of this consolidation and request for services and agrees to reimburse the County for any costs. Section 6. That the City Clerk is hereby directed to file' a certified copy of this Resolution with the Board of Supervisors and the County Election Department of the County of Orange. Section 7. That the City Clerk shall certified to the passage and adoption of this Resolution and enter same into the book of original resolutions.
