1. I would like to take a moment to thank the planning commission and all those present for all their
efforts, funding, and time taken to prepare for this meeting.
2. The reason many of us are here tonight is to address our many concerns about the LA Fitness Center
that is proposed to be built in our back yard.
3. This is not in the back yard of most of the people in Seal Beach, but it is our back yard; albeit a
small group, but an important and resourceful group. As you can see we have marshalled our resources
to make our case heard for this3pTeveral previous meetings.
4. Those fiom the LA Fitness organization and those in our community rt this incursion into
our lives do not live in the vicinity that will be affected by building the Shopping Center
owner, LA Fitness personnel, many Seal Beach politicians; and almost every planning commission
member do not live in the proposed affected area.
5. Those of us that live in PW small community have made it abundantly clear that -we do not want the
LA Fitum Center in our community.
& I ask you as the Seal Beach politicians and the planning commission members, what is your role?
7. Is it not to listen to those that are most directly impacted and subsequently affected on a daily basis
by any decision made?
8. Should you not have compassion and concern and certainly a moral responsibility to heed our
request that we not be saddled with this horrible and certainly potentially dangerous situation?
9. If this was in your backyard, would you approve it? Would it be in your families interest to face the
dangers outlined?
10. Voting to force this down our community's throats would be a vicious and uncaring act of cruelty to
our neighbors, children, elderly, and special needs community.

11. It is my hope; and the hope of those assembled here that you will votWour heart; and not the pocket
book of those in the private and civic communities that say `hot in my backyard" but it's OK for the
