BACKGROUND: The City of Seal Beach purchased 201 8ih Street and took over responsibility of the building on August 24, 2001. No monies were allocated for the property in the 2001 / 2002 budget because of the recent building acceptance date. The building has been added to the City's maintenance inventory, and an amendment to the budget is necessary to secure funds for operation and maintenance of the building. FISCAL IMPACT: The total proposed budget amendment is $2,500 for the remainder of this fiscal year. This is for the required ongoing maintenance for 201 8`b Street and will be covered from the general undesignated fund balance. The current general undesignated fund balance is $3,501,816. The proposed general budget amendment will decrease undesignated fund balance by 52,500 to $3,499,316. it is anticipated that the maintenance budget for the building will be approximately $8,000 in the next fiscal year. RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends City Council approve a resolution amending the budget for the building account for 201 8a' Street.
