HomeMy WebLinkAboutItem JI' AGENDA REPORT DATE: October 22, 2001 TO: Honorable Mayor and City Council TBRU: John B. Bahorski, City Manager PROM: a Doug Danes, P.E., Director of Public Works / City Engineer SUBJECT: AWARD UNIT PRICE /MAINTENANCE/EMERGENCY SERVICES CONTRACT FOR TRAFFIC SIGNAL MAINTENANCE AND REPAIR SUMMARY OF REOUEST: The proposed City Council action will award a unit price/maintenance/emergency services contract for traffic signal maintenance and repair with Peek Traffic Signal Maintenance Inc. and authorize the City Manager to execute the contract. BACKGROUND: The Public Works Department is in the process of formalizing all its contract operations so it has contractors on contract with negotiated unit prices ready to work should an emergency event happen or if additional work is necessary that can not be performed by city forces. The purpose of this contract is to retain the firm of Peek Traffic Signal Maintenance Inc. for both operators and equipment to perform traffic signal maintenance and repair. Maintenance and emergency service contracts allow the City to have access to a wide array of equipment and personnel without allocating the resources such as purchasing high cost equipment that will be underutilized. FISCAL IMPACT: None at this time. Work would only be authorized if it is within a budget or needs to be repaired because of an emergency situation. Upon motion of the consent calendar, it is recommended that the City Council award the unit price/maintenance/emergency services contract for traffic signal maintenance and repair to Peek Traffic Signal Maintenance Inc. and authorize the City Manager to execute the contract.
