Bahorski, City ManagerP SUBJECT: Rideshare Week SUMMARY OF REQUEST: Proclaim the week of October 1 - 5, 2001 as Rideshare Week and reduce traffic congestion and smog by promoting alternatives to driving alone to Seal Beach residents. BACKGROUND: Southern California Association of Governments is encouraging all cities to take part in the 15' annual Rideshare Week by promoting driving alternatives to residents and businesses in each city. Attached is a proclamation declaring the week of October I" thru October 5 as Rideshare Week. FISCAL IMPACT: None RECOMMENDATION: That Council proclaim the first week of October as "Rideshare Week" and encourage citizens and residents of Seal Beach to take part in this activity. NOW, THEREFORE, I, WILLIAM DOANE, MAYOR of the City of Seal Beach in the State of California in the United States of America, do hereby proclaim October 1 - 5, 2001 as California Rideshare Week in the City of sea[ Beach.
