SUBJECT: APPROVAL OF GRANT OF EASEMENT TO EDISON
COMPANY FOR UNDERGROUND ELECTRICAL
SUPPLY SYSTEMS AND COMMUNICATIONS
SYSTEMS FOR TARGET SIGN
SUMMARY OF REOUEST:
The proposed action will formally approve a Grant of Easement to the Southern
California Edison Company along the southerly side of the City owned property on
Lampson Ave. approximately 1200 feet east of Seal Beach Blvd. in the "greenbelt area"
of the Old Ranch Towne Center Area B development located just east of the proposed
Elderly Care Facility project. The easement is needed for the underground electrical
supply systems and communications systems to the Target sign located on that same
propel'
As part of the Old Ranch Towne Center Area B development a free standing sign for the
Target Development was installed pursuant to the Development Agreement approved by
Ordinance No. 1440 -A adopted August 23, 1999 on City owned property on Lampson
Ave. approximately 1200 feet east of Seal Beach Blvd. in the "greenbelt area" of the Old
Ranch Towne Center Area B development located just east of the proposed Elderly Care
Facility project. As part of the installation of the sign the Southern California Edison
Company has provided an underground electrical supply systems and communications
systems service to the sign and needs an easement along the southerly side of the city
property for installation and maintenance of the service
Upon motion of the consent calendar, it is recommended that the City Council:
By resolution, approve the Chant of Easement to the Edison Company.
Authorize the Mayor to execute said easement.

Direct the Public Works Director to forward said executed easement and a
certified copy of this resolution to the Southern California Edison Company for
recording with the Orange County Recorder and to obtain a recorded copy of the
said easement from the Southern California Edison Company upon completion of
recording.

CITY OF SEAL BEACH, a municipal corporation (hereinafter referred to as "Grantor'), hereby grants to SOUTHERN
CALIFORNIA EDISON COMPANY, a corporation, its successors and assigns (hereinafter referred to as "Grantee "), an easement
and right of way to construct, use, maintain, operate, alter, add to, repair, replace, reconstruct, inspect and remove at any time and
from time to time underground electrical supply systems and communication systems (hereinafter referred to as "systems "),
consisting of wires, underground conduits, cables, vaults, manholes, handholes, and including above - ground enclosures, markets
and concrete pads and other appurtenant futures and equipment necessary or useful for distributing electrical energy and for
transmitting intelligence by electrical means, in, on, over, under, across and along that certain real property in the County of
Orange, State of California, described as follows:
A STRIP OF LAND 6.00 FEET WIDE LYING WI'T'HIN PARCEL 4 OF PARCEL MAP 97 -165 FILED AS
INSTRUMENT NUMBER 19990302944 IN BOOK 307, PAGES 5 THROUGH 7, INCLUSIVE, OF PARCEL MAPS
IN THE OFFICE OF THE COUNTY RECORDER OF SAID COUNTY, SAID STRIP LYING 6.00 FEET
NORTHERLY AND WESTERLY OF THE FOLLOWING DESCRIBED LINE:
BEGINNING AT THE WESTERLY TERMINUS OF THAT CERTAIN LINE SEGMENT WITHIN THE
SOUTHERLY BOUNDARY OF SAID PARCEL 4 DESCRIBED AS "N 833129" W 106.67 FEET "; THENCE
SOUTH 83 °52'29" EAST 86.00 FEET ALONG SAID SOUTHERLY BOUNDARY; THENCE NORTH 6 °07'31" EAST

THE INTENTION OF THE GRANTOR TO GRANT AN EASEMENT FOR SAID SYSTEMS AS CONSTRUCTED.
THE CENTERLINE OF THE EASEMENT SHALL BE COINCIDENTAL WITH THE CENTERLINE OF SAID
SYSTEMS AS CONSTRUCTED IN, ON, OVER, UNDER, ACROSS AND ALONG THE GRANTOR'S PROPERTY.
This legal description was prepared pursuant to Sec. 8730(c) of the Business & Professions Code.

Grantor agrees for himself, his heirs and assigns, not to erect, place or maintain, nor to permit the erection, placement or
maintenance of any building, planter boxes, earth fill or other structures except walls and fences on the above described real
property. The Grantee, and its contractors, agents and employees, shall have the right to trim or cut tree mots as may endanger or
interfere with said systems and shall have free access to said systems and every pan thereof, at all times, for the purpose of
exercising the rights herein granted; provided, however, that in making any excavation on said property of the Grantor, the
Grantce shall make the same in such a manner as will cause the least injury to the surface of the ground around such excavation,
and shall replace the earth so removed by it and restore the surface of the ground to as near the same condition as it was prior to
such excavation as is practicable.
