HomeMy WebLinkAboutItem CWHEREAS, breast cancer is the Leading cause of cancer death of women between the ages of 50 and 59, and is the leading cancer site among American women, second only to fung cancer in deaths; and WHEREAS, the incidence of breast cancer in Orange County is higher than the State incidence; and WHEREAS, the 10t` annual Orange County RACE FOR THE CURE will occur on September 23, 2001, raising awareness of breast cancer, and raising funds for outreach and screening programs in Orange County; and WHEREAS, on the day of the race, the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation wifl honor those individuals in Orange County and across the nation who have survived breast cancer and who have advanced the goats of the Komen Foundation. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council does hereby proclaim September 23, 2001 as RACE FOR THE CURE DAY In Seal Beach and further commends the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation for its efforts to enhance breast cancer awareness and prevention. IN WITNESS, WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seat of the City of Seat Beach to be affixed this Twenty- seventh Day of August, in the Year Two Thousand -One.
