Re: ARGUMMTS AGAINST rerouting SEAL BEACH BOULrvARD
Honorable Councilman:
Maybe Greg and I are getting paranoid, but did you and Lee
Whittenberg intend to effectively shut-down Sandpiper Bike
Shop retail business during the three month street
improvement program by changing the public works plan which
directed two way traffic with no curb parking?
Well, inadvertently or not, you have. And you have also
put increased outbound traffic on a residential width 12`h
Street, which further clogs the PCH 6 12th St. intersection,
the left hand turn on Coast Highway and Seal Beach
Boulevard, and increases the traffic load in front of McGaw
School. Was this the result of a study or a political
decision?
All those who do not garage nor use their cars to commute
must now park only on the west side of the street. Since
there is no other room, they permanently park (they used to
have to move them every other week for street sweeping) in
the green 20 minute zones in front of the businesses,
including Sandpiper and Beachside Travel. I haV planned to
use my undeveloped lot as Sandpiper parking, but the cars
parked on the street now block the proposed driveway as
well as visibility to the shop.
I ask that you immediately rescind your directive given to
the police department and restore two way traffic to Seal
Beach Boulevard during the construction period. Those
inconvenienced by parking can either park in their own
garages or park on side streets.
