A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SEAL BEACH, CALIFORNIA, AUTHORIZING THE
DESTRUCTION OF CERTAIN FINANCIAL RECORDS
Whereas, the City Council adopted Resolution Number 3726 dated
September 21, 1987 setting forth a procedure for the
destruction of certain financial records; and
Whereas, the City Attorney has given his written consent for the
destruction of certain financial records, on file in the
office of the Director of Administrative Services.
Now, therefore, be it resolved that the City Council of the City of
Seal Beach does hereby authorize the destruction of the following
financial records, approved by the City Attorney, on file in the
office of the City Director of Administrative Services:
General Ledger accounts dated prior to June 30, 1976;
Miscellaneous records listed in section 1-B of Resolution
Number 3726 dated p~ior to June 3D, 1990.

SUBJECT: Destruction of Certain financial Records
SUMMARY OF REQUEST:
Approve destruction of financial records per the time constraints of Government Code Section 34090
and City Resolution Number 3726.
DISCUSSION:
Government Code section 34090 and Resolution Number 3726 set guidelines for destruction of
financial records. The City Attorney has approved the following records for destruction:
All priorto June 30, 1976:
General Ledger Accounts
All prior to June 30, 1990:
Employee Time sheets
Purchase Orders
Paid Invoices
Paid Checks
Monthly Revenue Reports
Daily Cash Summaries
Monthly Expenditure Reports
Water Receipts
Meter Read Books
Water patron Ledgers
Business License Applieations (after tennination or expiration
of license) .

All payroll records are being retained as a pellllanent record until microfilming of payroll records has
been completed.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The proposed Resolution has no fiscal impact.
