AGENDA REPORT
DATE: May 14, 2001
TO: Honorable Mayor and City Council
THRU: John B. Bahorski, City Manager
FROM: Stephen G. Badum, Director of Public Works /City Engineer
SUBJECT: APPROVAL OF PLANS, SPECIFICATIONS, AND
ESTIMATES FOR ACCESS GATE IMPROVEMENTS -
NAVY RESERVOIR, PROJECT # 728
SUMMARY OF REQUEST:
The proposed City Council action will approve the plans and specifications, and
authorize Staff to initiate the bidding process so that a contract may be awarded for
Access Gate Improvements at the City's Navy Reservoir, Project #728.
City staff has been working with the staff at the U.S. Naval Weapons Station to modify
the access into the City's reservoir site. Currently the City must gain access through the
main entrance security gate at Seal Beach Boulevard and Forrestal Road. This process is
somewhat cumbersome for emergency response and deliveries by outside vendors. The
proposed project will construct a new gate along Anchor Way so that employees and
vendors may access the reservoir site through the Navy housing complex. The Navy has
approved the project and given the City permission to perform the work. The estimated
cost of the project is $12,000. The plans and specifications were prepared by W.G.
Zimmerman Engineers.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Funds are currently available within the City's 2000/01 Capital Improvement program
budget under the Water Enterprise Fund.
