STAFF REPORT
TO: Mayor Campbell and Members of the City Council
ATTN: Donald F. McIntyre, Interim City Manager
FROM: Pamela Arends-King, Director of Administrative Services/Tremurer
SUBJECT: 2000/2001 BUDGET ADMENDMENTS
SUMMARY OF REQUEST:
City Council to approve a Resolution authorizing budget amendments for the 2000/2001
fiscal year.
DISCUSSION:
This budget amendment reflects the negotiated salary increases for Police and Police
Management not included in the original 2000/01 budget because at the time of budget
preparation the amount was not estimable. Since the original budget was adopted, the
two associations have negotiated a salary increase as represented in this budget
amendment. The budget amendment also includes Citywide medical and dental benefit
rate increases effective January 1, 2001. The increase will be funded by the increased
estimate of the utility users tax revenue.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The increase in salaries and benefits totaling $266,537 will be offset by the increase in
estimated utility users tax revenue.
Agenda Item

RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends the approval of the budget amendments for the Police and Police
Management salary increases and for the upcoming rate increases in medical and dental
insurance premium rates for all full time employees.
