HomeMy WebLinkAboutProclamation - Red Ribbon Weekrodamation WHEREAS, Orange County has been celebrating Red Ribbon Week since 1988, oral WHEREAS, community numbers show their sup ort and commitment to a drug f ree Lifestyle y pfanning andpartici Eating in substance abuse awareness, public education programs, essay and poster contests, etc., and WHEREAS, the City of Seal Beach and the Seal Beach Chamber of Commerce have cooperated to demonstrate to our comnuttt their commitment to a drug free lifestyle, and WHEREAS, the Red Ribbon Campaign wifr be celebrated in every community in America. during "Red Ribbon Week" - October 23-29, 2000; and WHEREAS, business, government, law enforcement, schoofs, religious institutions, service organizations, youth, medieal, senior citizens, military, sports teams araC individuafs will demonstrate their commitment to drug-free , fuafthy lifeseyfes by wearing araC displaying red ribbons during tfiu weeklong campaign, and WHEREAS, the cornmmtity of Seaf Beach further commits it resources to ensure the success of the Red Ribbon Campaign. NOW THEREFORE, I, PATRICIA E. CAMPBELL, MAYOR OF THE CITY OF SEAL BEACH, do hereby proclaim the week of October 23-29, 2000 as RED RIBBON WEEK in the City of Seal Beach and encourage aft citizens to display a red ribbon to participate in drug prevention and education activities, making a .,isibfe statement that we are fnrmfy committed to a drug free community. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Seal Beach encourages aft citizens to pledge "My Choice, Drug -Free!"
