HomeMy WebLinkAboutCareer Technical Education Month ProclamationPRocr.AaUnoa( "Career Technical Education Month" February 2018 WHEREAS, the month of February has been designated Career Technical Education Month by the Association of Career and Technical Education; and WHEREAS, profound economic and technological changes in our society are rapidly reflected in the structure and nature of work, thereby placing new and additional responsibilities on our educational system; and WHEREAS, career and technical education opportunities at North Orange County Regional Occupational Program provide the citizens of Seal Beach with a school -to -careers connection and is the backbone of a strong, well-educated workforce, which fosters productivity in business and industry and contributes to our City's leadership in the marketplace; and WHEREAS, North Orange County Regional Occupational Program's career and technical education gives high school students in our city experience in practical, meaningful applications of basic skills such as reading, writing and mathematics, thus improving the quality of their education and giving all students leadership opportunities in their fields and in their communities; and WHEREAS, career and technical education offers individuals lifelong opportunities to learn new skills, which provide them with career choices and potential satisfaction; and WHEREAS, the ever-increasing cooperative efforts of career and technical educators with business and industry stimulate the growth and vitality of our city's economy and that of the entire nation by preparing graduated of career fields forecast to experience the largest and fastest growth in the decade; NOW, THEREFORE, I, Mike Varipapa, the Mayor of the City of Seal Beach do hereby proclaim February, 2018, as Career and Technical Education Month In the City of Seal Beach, and urge all citizens to become familiar with the services and benefits offered by North Orange County Regional Occupational Program and other career and technical education programs in our city and surrounding communities, and to support and participate in these programs to enhance their individual work skills and productivity.
