Subject: ACCEPTANCE OF SEAL BEACH BOULEVARD
MEDIAN IMPROVEMENTS, PROJECT NO. 706
GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The proposed action will formally accept the completion of the construction contract to
construct the Seal Beach Boulevard Median Improvements.
DISCUSSION:
In May 2000, Council elected to award a project to Excel Paving Company. In accordance
with the plans and specifications, the Contractor has completed the above - referenced project.
The breakdown of costs are:
Original Contract Price $ 104,180.00
Unit Price Work $ 94,325.60
Authorized Change Orders $ 16,628.32
Contract Total $ 110,953.92
Authorized Payments to date $ 105,406.22
5% Retention $ 5,547.70
This project was completed within the contract time and within budget. The next phase of
the project will involve the Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department planting
the median.
FISCAL IMPACT
Funds were expended through the City's Capital Improvement Program budget.

RECOMMENDATION
Upon motion of the consent calendar, it is recommended that the City Council:
1. By resolution, determine the work has been completed in accordance with the
contract documents and declare the work to be accepted and the total amount of the
contract is in the sum of $110,953.92.
2. Direct the City Clerk, within ten (10) days from the date of acceptance, file a "Notice
of Completion" with the Orange County Recorder.
3. Direct City staff, upon expiration of thirty -five (35) days from the filing of the
"Notice of Completion, to make the retention payment to Excel Pacing Co. in the
amount of $5,547.70.
