Dear Mayor and Councilmembers:
ALZHEIMER'S ASSOCIATION OF ORANGE COUNTY
7TH ANNUAL MEMORY WALK BENEFIT - OCTOBER 7, 2000
As a secondary caregiver to my dementia - diagnosed veteran father
for the past 1 1/2 years, I truly appreciate the care that many
spouses, adult children and professionals provide on a daily basis.
We know of the tremendous difficulties, mentally, physically,
emotionally, and financially that impact the patient and families
providing care to our loved ones.
For eighteen years, the Alzheimer's Association of Orange County
has been a life saving organization providing support, referral and
advocacy services for families. On Saturday morning, October 7,
2000 this nonprofit group will sponsor the 7th Annual "Memory Walk"
at the Irvine Spectrum /Western Digital Plaza. The purpose of this
event is to foster public awareness of Alzheimer's and Related
Disorders while raising desperately needed funds for care and
finding a cure.
To assist this effort, may I please request your City to promote
our cause by issuing a proclamation commending the Alzheimer's
Association for their assistance and education to the public.
Enclosed is a sample proclamation and interested group addresses.
Further information about the Walk may be found on the internet at
www. alzoc .org /special.memwalk.l.htm. Encouraging all your citizens,
churches, synagogues, mosques, and organizations to support the
"Memory Walk" will help thousands of families in Los Angeles
County.
Sincerely,
