SUBJECT: Amendment to Orange County Employees' Association (OCEA)
Memorandum of Understanding
SUMMARY OF REQUEST
That Council approve amendment to OCEA Memorandum of Understanding to revise maximum sick
leave accrual to 520 hours.
BACKGROUND
Council approved the Memorandum of Understanding between the Orange County Employees'
Association and the City for a 2-year contract ending June 30, 1999. At that time, the City reserved the
right to reopen negotiations to review the long-term disability insurance plan as it related to the
maximum sick leave accrual of 1040 hours provided to OCEA members. During renewal of the City's
long-term disability provider, the City reopened negotiations with OCEA. Agreement was reached to
reduce the maximum sick leave hours accruable by half or 520 hours.
RECOMMENDATION
Approve Proposed Resolution amending the Orange County Employees' Association Memorandum of
Understanding to reduce the hours of maximum sick leave that can be accrued to 520 hours.
