A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEAL BEACH, CALIFORNIA, APPOINTING THE
AMERICAN RED CROSS AS THE OFFICIAL DISASTER
RESPONSE AGENCY
I
WHEREAS, the City of Seal Beach acknowledges that natural
and technological disasters may occur within its
Jurisdiction; and
WHEREAS, during disasters citizens may need shelter, food,
and replacement of household goods and essential
personal possessions; and
WH~REAS, the City of Seal Beach Emergency Operations Plan
designates the Department of Parks and Recreation
as the coordinating department for the response to
such citizen needs; and .
WHEREAS, the American Red Cross holds a Congressional
mandate to provide disaster assistance within the
United States.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Seal Beach does
appoint the American Red Cross as the official Disaster Response
Agency to coordinate with the Department of Parks and Recreation
to provide food, Clothing, shelter and information to the
individual~ and families affected by a local emergency.
