HomeMy WebLinkAboutItem D '-.F SEA('B• �` ma r MEMORANDUM r* *l 1A 4Cf 1�,/yyP/yyt., +Vr %ApKIL 12j Date: March 25, 1999 To: Mayor and Members of the City Council From: Shawn Boyd, Council Member Subject: Request for Revenue Augmentation to Tidelands Beach Fund 034 Department 65 from the County of Los Angeles for Beach Cleaning I am requesting the Council direct staff to begin preparing a request of the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors to provide the City of Seal Beach with an annual financial supplement to our Tidelands Beach Fund 034 Department 65. All funds received would be allocated to the Tidelands Beach Fund 034 Department 65 for use specific to improved beach maintenance and the purchase of new beach cleaning equipment. The request prepared by staff should include, but not be limited to; expenses for beach cleaning operations for the past five years, annual and cumulative totals, total tonnage remove from the beach, an overview of the shoreline depicting the San Gabriel River mouth and jetties, and water quality statistics available from the Orange County Health Care Agency. For reference, the City of Long Beach receives annual financial assistance in the amount of $500,000 from the County of Lbs Angeles to supplement their beach maintenance efforts on their 7 miles of shoreline.
