Badum, Director of Public Works/City Engineer Subject: APPROVAL OF PLANS, SPECIFICATIONS, & ESTIMATES FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF PIER WATERLINE REPLACEMENT, PROJECT NO. 735 GENERAL DESCRIPTION The proposed City Council action will approve the plans, specifications, and estimates and authorize Staff to initiate the bidding process so that a contract may be awarded on July 26, 1999 for the construction of the Pier Waterline Replacement, Project #735. DISCUSSION: The water service for fire and domestic uses on the pier is in need of replacement. The proposed replacement project will insure that adequate water flow and pressure be maintained on the pier. The 8" replacement waterline will connect to a 12" water main in Ocean Avenue. The plans and specifications were completed by City staff and W.G. Zimmerman Engineering. Upon the successful bidding process and award of a contract, the project should be completed in August. FISCAL IMPACT: Funds in the total amount of$40,000 are currently available within the City's 1998/99 Capital Improvement program budget to construct these improvements.
