HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC Res 3725 1987-09-21 I I I Resolution Number .:J1:2~ A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEAL BEACH, ACKNOWLEDGING AND APPROVING OF THE RELOCATION OF THE ROCKWELL INTERNATIONAL HELIPORT APPROXIMATELY 200 FEET NORTHWEST OF ITS PRESENT LOCATION, WHEREAS, Rockwell International, located at 2600 Westminster Boulevard, is proposing to relocate their existing heliport site approximately 200 feet northwest of the existing facility, and; WHEREAS. this relocation requires review and approval from the Federal Aviation Administration and the State of California, Division of Aeronautics. and; WHEREAS, the Division of Aeronautics requires a review and approval of the proposed relocation from the City of Seal Beach ,subject to Section 21661.5 of the Public Utilities Code, and; WHEREAS, the heliport has an approved Conditional Use Permit. adopted December 6. 1961, and the City of Seal Beach should make a determination that the proposed relocation is consistent with the approved CUP 4-61. and; WHEREAS. an environmental determination must be made regarding the proposed relocation. in accordance with the requirement of the California Environmental Quality Act. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED. that the City Council of the City of Seal Beach does hereby review. acknowledge. and approve of the proposed relocation of the eXisting heliport site approximately 200 feet northwest of the existing location, in accordance with the following findings: 1. The proposed relocation is consistent with the adopted Conditional Use Permit (CUP 4-61). which establishes a ground level heliport adjacent to the parking lot at BUilding 80. 2. The approved departure and arrival patterns for helicopters utilized by Rockwell shows a pattern over the Naval Weapons Station, which is acceptabie to the City as an appropriate noise abatement measure. Any deviation from this approved flight pattern should be submitted to the City for review and approval. 3. The proposed relocation is categorically exempt from the requirements of the California Environmental Quality Act. in accordance with Section 15302 of the State's CEQA Guidelines. The proposed relocation will not cause the operation of the heliport to expand. and the facility will operate at the same level of usage as the existing facility. The relocation can be considered minor in nature. PASSED.
