' STAFF REPORT
TO: Mayor Yost & Members of the City Council
THRU: Keith R. Till, City Manager
FROM: Nancy L. Beard, Director of Parks, Recreation& Community Services
SUBJECT: Zoeter Skate Park Funding
SUMMARY OF REQUEST:
That Council approve use of the Park Improvement Fund for purchase of skate ramps.
BACKGROUND:
In April of 1999, the City Council approved the re-designation of the Zoeter hockey rink
to the Zoeter Skate Park. This was a successful effort to increase programming for the
City's preteen and teenage population. Over 2,000 participants have entered our park
over the past nine months. The staffed park is doing very well in meeting its daily
operating cost. Through fundraising efforts, $5,500 of the $15,726 original bill has been
raised. The balance of$10,226 is currently due.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The Park Improvement Fund is available for citywide park projects. This request is
funded within those dedicated monies. Following the payment for the ramps, fundraising
will continue for repairs and replacement of the ramps.
RECOMMENDATION:
Upon motion of the Consent Calendar, Council will approve use of the Park Improvement
Fund.
