A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEAL BEACH,
CALIFORNIA, CREATING A BUSINESS ADVISORY COMMITTEE
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEAL BEACH HEREBY RESOLVES:
WHEREAS, the Seal Beach Chamber of Commerce requested the City
Council consider establishment of a Business Advisory
Committee; and
WHEREAS, the purpose of the Business Advisory Committee would be
to ultimately enhance sales tax revenue and stipulate the
conditions for future growth of the city's retail base;
and
NOW, THEREFORE, the city council of the City of Seal Beach does
hereby resolve that:
section 1.
A special effort is needed to determine actions
that should be considered to enhance retail sales
tax revenue within the city.
Section 2.
The city Council of the city of Seal Beach does
hereby create an advisory committee to be known as
the Business Advisory Committee.
The Business Advisory Committee shall consist of
seven (7) voting members appointed by the City
Council. The members of the committee shall have
particular skills, background and knowledge in
retail experience.
Section 3.
Of the seven (7) voting members,

Section 5. The Director of Development Services or his
designee will serve as staff support to the
Business Advisory Committee, however, no voting
privileges will be given.

Section 6. The Business Advisory Committee shall be charged by
the city Council with:
a. Conducting a survey of business license holders in the
City of Seal Beach to determine their willingness to
participate in funding a marketing report for the City by
assessing $50 per year to license holders. The survey
shall be performed by the City of Seal Beach, with prior
approval of survey document by city council;
b. SUbmitting a final report and recommendations to the city
Council by July 1, 1992 unless extended by the City
Council.
section 7.
The Business Advisory committee shall select from
its membership a person to chair its meeting and a
person to record its action. All actions by the
Committee shall be taken by majority vote of the
seven (7) voting members of the Committee. The
Committee shall abide by the California Government
Code and Seal Beach Charter and City Code relative
to open public meetings and conflict of interest
regulations. Copies of the minutes of each meeting
and of any written reports or correspondence of the
Committee shall be filed with the City Clerk.

The Seal Beach Chamber of Commerce has agreed to
assume the cost of printing and reproduction of
said survey.
