_ WHEREAS, the Unite States Bureau of the Census will

Ir(' WHEREAS, the Census is mandated every ten years by the
'. United States Constitution; and

WHEREAS, the primary objective is to make Census 2000
the nation's most accurate and complete
count, at the lowest cost possible; and
i •▪ � WHEREAS, every resident counts, no matter where they
live or what language they speak; and
WHEREAS,full cooperation by every possible unit of state
and local government, every possible church,
community group, social service organization
and volunteer affinity group in the country is
needed to provide the most accurate census
information; and
WHEREAS, census information. will be used for decennial apportionment of the
United States House of Representatives among states and to redraw
state and local legislative districts; is the primary tool used by the
government, business and community organizations on which to base their
decisions; and used to distribute approximately two trillion dollars in
federal funds back to the local communities over the next ten years; and
WHEREAS, by law, Title IX ofthe United States Code, any and all census information
corrected is strictly confidential.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED that the City Council of the City of Seal
Beach, California, does hereby support the efforts to make
CENSUS DAY, APRIL 1, 2000
The most accurate and complete count and encourages all people living in the City of
Seal Beach to participate.
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Seal Beach,
California, at a meeting thereof held on t& Twenty-eighth day of February, Two
Thousand.
