HomeMy WebLinkAboutProclamation - Girl Scout Week • �A� 4 II=i t 16 :=1 I 41X reclamation s ♦ss , .. is ITTITIITTIIr, ,r(---4-431 WHEREAS, Sunday, March 12, 2000, marks the 88 �� anniversary of Girt Scouts of the U.S.A., { j _founded by Juliette Gordon Low in 1912 in . 1 Savannah, Georgia; and WHEREAS, throughout its long and distinguished history, Girl Scouting has inspired millions . • of girls and women with the highest ideals of character, conduct and patriotism; and WHEREAS, through Girt Scouting, girls grow strong in body, mind and spirit and learn of their importance in the world and their duty to the world around them; and WHEREAS, Girt Scouting is ptaying an active role in increasing the fitness of today's children across the country through the Girt Sports National Sports and Fitness Initiative; and WHEREAS, more than three million current Girt Scout members nationwide celebrate 88 years of an American tradition with 50 miflion women who are former Girt Scouts and can be mentors to help today's girls succeed. NOW, THEREFORE, I, Paul Yost, by virtue of the authort vested in me as Mayor of the City of Seal Beach do hereby proclaim the week of March 11, 2000 as Girl Scout Week PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Seat Beach, California, at a meeting thereof held on tFie Thirteenth day of March, Two Thousand. 7Q1) Mayor Paul Yost ATTEST: a Joanne M.
