HomeMy WebLinkAboutProclamation - Fire Service Recognition Day PROCLAMATION WHEREAS, Fire Service Recognition Day was established by President Lyndon B. Johnson in 1968, to salute the men and women who have dedicated their personal and professional lives to the service of others; and WHEREAS, one day each year is set aside to focus public attention on the quality and extent of modern fire services provided to citizens in the United States of America; and WHEREAS, the Firefighters of the Orange County Fire Authority are technically trained and highly skilled professional public servants who are committed to providing a variety of emergency services and fire prevention programs to 21 cities and the unincorporated areas of Orange County; and WHEREAS, the men and women of the Orange County Fire Authority perform vital community services through their diversified programs which are aimed at increasing public awareness of fire and life safety through education; and WHEREAS, Saturday, May 13, 2000 has been designated by the International Association of Fire Chiefs as Fire Service Recognition Day; and NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Seal Beach does hereby designate Saturday, May 13, 2000 as FIRE SERVICE RECOGNITION DAY in Seal Beach and urges all citizens to become better acquainted with the Orange County Authority's firefighters, the apparatus and equipment, and the many professional services they provide to the community. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City of Seal Beach does hereby recognize and commend the men and women of the Orange County Fire Authority for their dedication and personal commitment to fire safety. IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the City of Seal Beach to be affixed, this Tenth Day of April, in the Year Two Thousand.
