Badum, Director of Public Works/City Engineer Subject: EMERGENCY REPAIR OF EQUIPMENT - CASE 621B LOADER SUMMARY OF REQUEST: The proposed action will affirm the repair of the City's Case 621B loader. DISCUSSION: The City's Case 621B loader requires the replacement of its transmission at an estimated cost of$14,850. This equipment is critical to the City's beach cleaning operation and is a valuable asset for other important Public Works operations. The existing loader is seven years old and has not had any major repairs since new. The cost to replace this equipment is over $100,000. Due to its critical use, staff has authorized the repair to expedite the loaders return to service. The repair work is highly specialized and it will be performed by the firm that originally sold the loader to the City, Contractors Equipment Company. FISCAL IMPACT: Funds to repair the loader are currently available within the City's maintenance and operations budget.. RECOMMENDATION: It is recommended that City Council approve the emergency expenditure of funds to repair the City's Case 621B Loader using Contractors Equipment Company in the amount not to exceed $16,000.
