HomeMy WebLinkAboutSupplemental - Letter from Bob Luraschi August 14, 2000 Mayor Patty Campbell and Seal Beach City Council 211 8`h Street Seal Beach, CA 90740 Re: Support for the Krenwinkle House as a Locally-Significant Structure Dear Mayor Campbell and City Council Members: Please read this letter into the record at tonight's City Council meeting. We are in favor of designating the Krenwinkle House a locally significant structure. There are several reasons why we believe there is historical significance to our home: 1. The City of Seal Beach, City of Seal Beach Historical Society and members of the Seal Beach community have supported its historical significance and preservation for several years. 2. First the house was to be moved to Marina Park. Then to the Hellman Ranch. Now, the most realistic option is to relocate the home to 308 7th Street. We (as owners) have kept our agreement with the City for over the years to preserve the house. The City's agreement prohibits us from renting the home and deriving income from the home. This lost income opportunity over the past several years should clearly indicate our commitment to theP reservation of our home. 3. Built in 1915, the Krenwinkle house may be one of the only remaining homes in Seal Beach that was relocated from the original Anaheim Landing. This is an important fact that should be taken into consideration. 4. In the late 1930's my father, Ben Krenwinkle, the City's Building Inspector and Purchasing Agent, was instrumental in helping people move out of the Landing due to the Naval Weapons Station and is referenced in Jean B. Dorr's book entitled A Story of Seal Beach. Thank you for your support. Sincerely, Annabelle Luraschi-Krenwinkle Bob Luraschi
