Beard; Director of Parks, Recreation and Community Services Subject: AWARD BID FOR THE McGAUGH COMMUNITY SWIMMING POOL RENOVATION PROJECT NO. 258 SUMMARY OF REQUEST: The proposed action will award the construction contract for the renovation of the McGaugh Community Swimming Pool to the lowest responsible bidder, Chris Chastang, South Coast Pool Plastering, Inc. in the amount of $184,000.00 and authorize the City Manager to execute same. DISCUSSION: This proposed project would renovate the Community Swimming Pool, re-plaster and re- tile the pool shell, repair and resurface the deck, remove of the gas chlorine system and replace chemical equipment and install the electrical system. City staff completed the plans and specifications for this project. Four bids were received and opened by the City Clerk on December 6, 1999 as listed below: Company Amount 1. • South Coast Pool Plastering, Inc. $184,000 2. California Commercial Pools, Inc. $228,945 3. Mission Pools of Escondido, Inc. $245,802 4. 4 - Con Engineering, Inc. $279,160 The low bidder, South Coast Pool Plastering, Inc., is properly licensed to do the work and has appropriate work experience as well as being the lowest responsible bidder for the project. 1 AGENDA ITEM Award Construction Contract City Council Staff Report December 13, 1999 FISCAL IMPACT: Funds are currently available in the Park Improvement Fund (016) and the McGaugh Pool Fund (046-20258) to fund the project including the bid amount, construction contingency, inspection and administrative project management fees. Total cost of the renovation is anticipated at $225,000. RECOMMENDATION: Upon motion of the consent calendar, it is recommended that the City Council: 1. Award the McGaugh Community Swimming Pool Renovation Project 258 to South Coast Pool Plastering, Inc. in the amount of$184,000 and authorize the City Manager to execute contract documents.
