Badum, Director of Public Works/City Engineer Subject: APPROVAL OF PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS FOR LOCAL DRAINAGE PROGRAM: 10th STREET, PROJECT NO. 623 SUMMARY OF REQUEST: The proposed City Council action will approve the plans and specifications, and authorize Staff to initiate the bidding process so that a contract may be awarded for the construction of drainage improvements on 10th Street, Project No. 623. DISCUSSION: Historically, there has been major ponding of water, up to 5 inches deep, along 10`h street. This is due to an extremely flat street, repeated overlays, and unsuitable trees. As identified in the City's Master Plan of Drainage, this was the first project to be implemented in the Local Drainage Program. In order to fix the drainage, the proposed project must replace all the curb and gutter on both sides of the street, certain driveway approaches/cross gutters, remove all the concrete parkway and fill with native soil, and pave remedial segments of street to join the new street grade elevations. It is also necessary to remove approximately four trees on the northeast portion of 10`h street. The City's Park and Recreation Department would replace the lost trees with more suitable species after project completion. The plans and specifications were completed by AKM and the project is estimated to cost $75,000. Upon the successful bidding process and award of a contract, the project should be completed in February. FISCAL IMPACT: Funds are currently available within the City's Capital Improvement program budget to construct these improvements as a part of the Local Drainage Program, 001-49623-043. 1 AGENDA ITEM .
