STAFF REPORT
To: Mayor Yost and Members of the City Council
Attention: Keith R. Till, City Manager
From: Stephen G. Badum, Director of Public Works/City Engineer
Subject: CALTRANS COOPERATIVE AGREEMENT No. 12-386
SUMMARY OF REQUEST:
The proposed action will approve a cooperative agreement with the California Department
of Transportation (Caltrans) to provide for the removal of concrete bridge debris on the
banks of the Anaheim Bay Channel.
DISCUSSION:
During the 1999/2000 State Budget process, the City was successful in obtaining funding
in the amount of$50,000 to remove concrete debris and related material from the former
Coast Highway bridge over the Anaheim Bay Channel. Caltrans has been assigned the
task of distributing these State funds. Since the original authorization, staff has
renegotiated with Caltrans to increase that amount up to $75,000 to cover engineering,
environmental certification, and administration. In order to receive these funds, it is
necessary to enter into a cooperative agreement with Caltrans. The attached agreement
sets the procedures and conditions for the reimbursement of funds.
Once the document is fully executed, plans, specifications, and estimates can be finalized.
Upon receiving appropriate permits and approvals, a construction contract can be
awarded. The construction has been tentatively scheduled for Spring 2000.
FISCAL IMPACT:
No fiscal impact. All costs will be recovered through the State appropriation.
