Badum, Director of Public Works/City Engineer Subject: AWARD BID: HEAVY DUTY 4 X 4 CAB AND CHASSIS FOR BEACH DUMP TRUCK SUMMARY OF REQUEST: The proposed action will award to the lowest responsible bidder, Peck Road Truck Center, in the amount of$27,389.51 and authorize Staff to order the vehicle. DISCUSSION: On September 13, 1999, City Council approved the plan to purchase equipment to enhance the Beach Crew's ability to effectively maintain the quality of our beaches in a cost-effective manner. Part of the plan was to purchase a 4 x 4 Dump Truck with a 4 cubic yard capacity. Typically, the trucks are sold as chassis only and another vendor is utilized for the installation of the dump body. The additional cost for the dump body is approximately $5000. Three bids for the 4x4 truck chassis were received and opened by the City Clerk on November 10, 1999 as listed below: 1) Advantage Ford Lincoln $30,049.32 2) Wondries Chevy and Geo. $28,616.91 3) Peck Road Truck Center $27,389.51 The low bidder,Peck Road Truck Center, met all the specifications to supply the truck. Upon approval of the truck chassis purchase, staff will order the dump body.
