AGENDA REPORT

Subject: ONE-YEAR EXTENSION ON AGREEMENT BETWEEN
LURASCHI FAMILY AND CITY OF SEAL BEACH—
KRENWINKLE HOUSE AT 112 CENTRAL AVENUE
SUMMARY OF REQUEST
That City Council approve an additional one-year extension ("Amendment Number Four")to the
current agreement between the Luraschi family and the City of Seal Beach regarding the
historically-significant Krenwinkle house.
BACKGROUND
By terms of the original agreement, dated December 31, 1995, the Luraschi family--owners of the
Krenwinkle house--conveyed to the City a single, residential structure located at 112 Central
Avenue. In accordance with this agreement, as well as the current one-year extension
('`Amendment Number Three"), the Luraschi family is required to leave the residential house on the
property undisturbed until December 31, 1999. If the City does not remove the house by such date,
the Luraschis could, at any time, following 20 days written notice to the City, declare the house
abandoned and then demolish and remove any part of the house from the property at sole cost and
expense to the Luraschi family.
However, the Luraschi family is requesting that"Amendment Number Three" be extended for one
more year, until December 31, 2000. The owners are also requesting that one additional clause be
added to"Amendment Number Four": Paragraph 2 would allow either the Luraschis or the City to
terminate the Agreement by submitting 20 day written notice to the other party. The Luraschis
requested this clause as a contingency in case the pending plan to move the Krenwinkle House does
not occur during the year 2000; they would like to retain the right to demolish the house in order to
proceed with developing the property site at 112 Central Avenue.
FISCAL IMPACT
C
Approval of the attached agreement would result in no additional financial commitment by the City
of Seal Beach.
