Honorable Seal Beach City Council Members: V
I would like to voice a request and concern over the Council's decision t o
agendize the Bixby Donation of the Tennis Courts to the City of Seal Beach.
I have been a homeowner in CPE for 15 years, and have served on the CPENA
for two years. I also worked with the committee formed to develop a plan
for the use of the proposed donation of the Old Ranch Tennis Courts to the
City of Seal Beach. I am proud of the hard work of this committee and the
consensus and options that we worked to create.
The donation of the Tennis Courts is a good faith gesture by Bixby to the
residents of Seal Beach. Unarguably, this proposed development and current
work in progress impacts the daily lives of CPE residents more than any
other neighboring community. The use and purpose of the Tennis Court site
will naturally impact the residents of CPE and draw its visitors largely
from our community. We feel that it is not only logical but also fair to
put the proposed plans to a vote in CPE before presenting it to the entire
City of Seal Beach.
Lastly, the committee chose to continue our work, even though the entire
project is now in limbo due to the March referendum. It doesn't make sense
for the City Council to spend the time of council, community and staff t o
address a proposal that may not even come to pass.
Please, first permit the residents of CPE to review and vote on any future
proposal of this site before general city discussion, and please let's wait
until after the March elections!
Thank you,
Lorraine Navarro
