Badum, Director of Public Works/City Engineer Subject: AWARD OF CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT FOR ANNUAL PAVEMENT REHABILITATION PROGRAM FY 1999-2000, PROJECT NO. 673. GENERAL DESCRIPTION The proposed City Council action will award a contract for: the construction of the Annual Pavement Rehabilitation Program, FY 1999/2000, Project #673 to the lowest responsible bidder, Sully-Miller Contracting, in the amount of$172,927.00 and authorize the City Manager to execute same. DISCUSSION On August 23, 1999, City Council approved plans and specifications for Annual Pavement Rehabilitation Program, FY 1999/2000, Project#673. The proposed project will repair various sections of roadway pavement and place a rubberized asphalt overlay on Stanford Lane, Camelia Street, Banyan Avenue, and Columbine Street. On September 15, 1999, the following bids were received and opened by the City Clerk: Annual Pavement Rehabilitation Pro•ram, FY 1999/2000, Project#673, Bid Results # Name Amount 1 Sully-Miller Contracting $172,927.00 2 R.J. Noble Co. $173,809.12 3 Excel Paving Co. $175,470.75 4 Sequel Contractors, Inc. $175,737.80 Four competitive bids were received and the lowest responsible bid was less than the City's estimated cost of$180,000. Sully-Miller has successfully performed work for the City on past contracts. City staff recommends that the construction contract for the Annual Pavement Rehabilitation Program, FY 1999/2000, Project#673, be awarded to Sully-Miller Contracting in the amount of$172,927.00. 1 AGENDA ITEM.' FISCAL IMPACT: Funds for the Annual Pavement Rehabilitation Program, FY 1999/2000, Project#673 are currently within the City's Capital Improvement Program budget. RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends that the City Council : 1. Award a contract for the construction of the Annual Pavement Rehabilitation Program, FY 1999/2000, Project#673 to the lowest responsible bidder, Sully-Miller Contracting., in the amount of$172,927.00; and 2.
