Badum, Director of Public Works/City Engineer - d i° Subject: SEAL BEACH REGIONAL BIKEWAY PROJECT STATE LOCAL GRANTS PROGRAM FY1999 State Funding Application SUMMARY OF REQUEST: The proposed action will adopt a resolution approving the application for approved funds from the State of California, Department of Parks and Recreation for funding under the State Local Grants Program. DISCUSSION: The Legislature and the Governor recently approved funding($650,000) for the Seal Beach Regional Bikeway, which is funded under the State General Fund. The Department of Parks and Recreation has been designated as the responsible State agency for administering this project. The City must adopt and approving resolution and enter into a cooperative agreement with the State to receive the State funds for this project FISCAL IMPACT: The original cost of the proposed project was $870,000 with$650,000 from the State Budget Local Grant Appropriation, $110,000 from the County of Orange, and $110,000 from the City's FY1999/2000 Capital Improvement Program budget. The revised overall cost of the project is $1,763,000. The pending TEA grant application is requesting $843,000. The remaining $50,000 required for the project will be funded under the Marina Drive Greenbelt Project from the City's FY1999/2000 Capital Improvement Project budget. The total contribution by the City will be $160,000. . Upon execution of the cooperative agreement, the City can begin invoicing the State for project costs. 1 AGENDA ITEM 1999 State DPR Application City Council Staff Report October 11, 1999 RECOMMENDATION: It is recommended that City Council adopt a resolution approving the FY1999 State Local Grant program application.
