Subject: ACCEPTANCE OF COMPLETED PROJECT
CENTRAL AVENUE/4TH STREET ROUNDABOUT,
PROJECT NO. 803
GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The proposed action will formally accept the completion of the contract for the construction of
the Central Avenue/4t Street Roundabout, Project# 803.
DISCUSSION:
In accordance with the plans and specifications, Nobest Inc. has completed the above-
referenced project. The breakdown of costs are:
Original Contract Price $ 98,498.20
Increased/Decreased Quantities $ - 9,242.86
Change Orders $ 2,890.00
Project Total $ 92,145.34
Authorized Payments to date $ 82,930.81
10% Retention $ 9,214.53
The completed traffic calming project constructed a roundabout at the intersection of Central
Avenue and 4th Street. Within the next few weeks, City staff will perform speed and traffic
volume surveys within the area to determine the effectiveness of the design and to determine
collateral effects if any, on adjacent streets.
FISCAL IMPACT
Funds were expended within the City's 1998/99 Capital Improvement program budget
within the Measure M, Gas tax, and General funds in the total amount of$92,145.34.

RECOMMENDATION
Upon motion of the consent calendar, it is recommended that the City Council:
1. By resolution, determine the work has been completed in accordance with the contract
documents and declare the work to be accepted and the total amount of the contract is
in the sum of$ 92,145.34.
2. Direct the City Clerk, within ten (10) days from the date of acceptance, file a "Notice
of Completion" with the Orange County Recorder.
4. Direct City staff, upon expiration of thirty-five (35) days from the filing of the "Notice
of Completion, to make the retention payment to Nobest, Inc. in the amount of
$9,214.53.
