Implementation in Los Angeles County • The Los Angeles Regional Water Quality Control Board required the development of implementation plans, with the selection of a compliance method required by 11/20/17 and the submittal of jurisdictional maps required by 2/18/19 • Cities were originally aiming to install Full Capture devices in 10% of high priority catch basins within their jurisdiction per year; with the passage of the Safe Clean Water Program (Measure W), this will likely be acceleratcu • Some LA cities (e.g. Bellflower) have already achieved full compliance 3 Implementation in Orange County • Cities have established an ad hoc group that has been meeting several times a year • Orange County Transportation Authority (OCTA) has been administering a voluntary grant program to fund city and county projects that control transportation-generated pollution since FY 2011-2012 • Many Full Capture Devices have been installed; some partial capture devices have been replaced with Full Capture Devices • Seal Beach has installed 55 full capture catch basin devices to date and has a grant pending for an additional 48 • Potential regional grant opportunities to accelerate installation of Full Capture Devices throughout OC cities within the San Gabriel River Watershed Takeaways • Upstream Los Angeles cities on track to complete installation of Full Capture devices in high priority catch basins by the mandated deadline set by Los Angeles Regional Water Quality Board • The Seal Beach has prepared maps identifying the priority catch basins within its jurisdiction • Installation of Seal Beach Full Capture Devices are underway • The Seal Beach's efforts are on track to meet the 2030 deadline • Homeless encampments along the river continue to be a major source of trash and litter <1, 4 Questions? 5
