HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC Res 3905 1990-01-08 I I I RESOLUTION NUMBER ,g,.9 tJ~ A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEAL BEACH, CALIFORNIA, in SUPPORT OF HR 3751 - THE OCEAN PROTECTION ACT OF 1990 THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEAL BEACH HEREBY RESOLVES: WHEREAS, Representative Barbara Boxer introduced HR 3751, the Ocean Protection Act of 1990; and WHEREAS, this bill recognizes the importance of maintaining the health of the nation's marine resources; and WHEREAS, HR 3751 is the first bill to recognize the national threat offshore oil development poses to the entire country; and WHEREAS, this bill protects the California's coastal counties from the unacceptable threats to air and water quality, commercial and sport fishing, coastal recreation and tourism, local economy and stress on local municipal infrastructure posed by active offshore oil development proposals; and NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Seal Beach supports HR 3751, the Ocean Protection Act of 1990. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council shall call upon the entire California Congressional Delegation to actively support and aid in the passage of this bill.
